Srinagar: Natural calamities like very heavy snowfall have always posed severe problems for far flung areas of Lolab valley, many a times. The Indian Army has always played a good Samaritan role in providing relief in the region during such testing times.

In one such incident on Tuesday, Zorawar Garrison, Gujjarpatti came forward to provide relief to a pregnant mother of Tariyan village in North Lolab who developed sudden labour pain. Due to recent very heavy snowfall and non-availability of any civilian transport in the village, the lady and her family were in distress.

Indian Army provided assistance to Hanifa Begum, wife of Abdul Hamid, resident of Tariyan village who sustained labour pain and helped her to shift to hospital in time. Soldiers of Zorawar Garrison, Gujjarpatti lifted the lady on a stretcher, arranged a Tata Sumo vehicle and shifted her to nearby hospital for further medical treatment.

Her husband and her family were deeply touched by this gesture and expressed their gratitude to the Indian Army. The humanitarian assistance of the Indian Army has been appreciated by everyone from all walks of life.
