The death toll in yesterday’s landslide incident in Himachal Pradesh’s Kinnaur district has risen to 13, today. AIR correspondent reports that search and rescue operation is still continue on war footing to trace the missing people who were buried under the rubble after the massive landslide occurred at Negulsari in Kinnaur district, yesterday afternoon.
So far, 13 bodies have been retrieved while 13 people have been rescued in this incident.
A joint rescue operation of NDRF, ITBP, Police and home guards is being carried out again at 6 AM today morning on war footing to search the people trapped under the debris. Heavy machinery is being used to clear the rubble from the incident site. Debris has been cleared from National Highway 05 and opened for vehicular movement. According to the State Emergency Operation Centre, around 25 to 30 people were buried under the debris in the landslide incident that took place at Nigul Sari ,yesterday
Meanwhile, rescue teams have located severely damaged HRTC bus under the rubble today.
Three more bodies were found under the debris from the incident site today, taking the death toll to 13. However 13 people have also been rescued in this incident. Most of the deceased are of Kinnaur district.
Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur has expressed deep grief over the deaths and directed the district administration to provide all possible help to the injured people.
