A team comprising the Forensic Science Laboratory, bomb disposal squad, and dog squad initiated an investigation into Thursday’s bomb blast at The Rameshwaram Cafe in Bengaluru’s Whitefield area. The explosion resulted in injuries to 10 individuals, prompting swift action from law enforcement authorities.

The Bengaluru police have registered a First Information Report (FIR) under sections 307 and 471 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), along with sections 16, 18, and 38 of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA). Additionally, sections 3 and 4 of the Explosive Substance Act have been added to the FIR. Karnataka Home Minister G Parmeshwara revealed that the suspect is believed to have arrived at the cafe via route number 26 bus.

  1. Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah stated that the suspect, wearing a mask and cap, arrived by bus, set the timer, and detonated the explosive. He emphasized the need for a thorough investigation and cautioned against politicizing the incident, urging the BJP not to engage in politics over the blast.
  2. Home Minister Dr. G Parameshwara disclosed that the suspect likely arrived at the cafe on a public bus, with police analyzing CCTV footage for visual evidence. He assured that multiple teams have been formed to apprehend the perpetrator and collect evidence, including the use of a timer for the blast.
  3. The Karnataka government has established eight teams to probe the explosion, with Deputy CM Shivakumar highlighting that a small bag left at the cafe exploded after an hour. Security personnel and eyewitnesses recounted the moments leading up to the blast, emphasizing the suddenness and severity of the explosion.
  4. An NIA team visited the blast site, with Union Minister Pralhad Joshi calling for an NIA investigation into the incident. Joshi attributed the blast to radicalization in the Congress-ruled state, citing previous incidents and alleged pro-Pakistan slogans.
  5. The Bengaluru Police Commissioner urged media restraint and cooperation in the ongoing investigation, emphasizing the sensitivity of the case and the need to avoid speculation.
