Heavy rains, accompanied by wind, lashed Mumbai and adjoining Thane today, leading to water logging at several low-lying areas. The IMD has already warned of heavy to very heavy rainfall at isolated places and adjoining coastal districts, issuing Orange warning for these areas for Friday and Saturday.
The Mumbai police has asked citizens to remain indoors and not venture out unnecessarily and take necessary precautions. Despite BMC claims of preparedness for monsoon, waterlogging has been reported at Sion, Kings Circle, Hindamata at Dadar and other low-lying areas.
The Colaba observatory recorded 57.7 mm of rainfall in three hours while Santa Cruz recorded 11.4 mm at midday.
