Handwara Police organise mini-Marathon as a part of Azadi ka Amrut Mahotsav Celebrations

Srinagar: As part of the Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav celebrations a mini-Marathon was organized by Handwara Police on Saturday in which Police personnel, Students of various Schools and local youth of Handwara area took part. The mini marathon was categorized into three age groups viz below 18, 19-25 and 25-40 years.

The marathon was flagged-off from GDC Handwara and passed through Chotipora, Kohru and culminated at Main Market Langate. The event was organized to celebrate the completion of 75 years of India’s freedom by giving boost to sports activities channelising youth energy in a positive manner and to reaffirm the inherent strength of our nation to withstand any threat to the unity and sovereignty. 

At the conclusion of the event Handwara Police congratulated the winner and runner up and distributed the prizes among the 1st, 2nd and 3rd on all the age groups respectively. 

Raquib Hassan, Faisal Ahmad and Mushtaq Ahmad got first position in their respective age groups, Amir Reyaz, Faisal Khaja and Mohammed Arif secured second position and Inamul Haq, Amir Sohail and Irshad Ahmad secured third positions in the marathon.

Superintendent of Police Handwara also interacted with the participants, thanked them for participation and asked them to participate in such sports events which can help them to channelize their potential. He also said that Handwara Police always tries to organize sports events so that the talent of the youth can be showcased.

Sports and games are good for physical and mental health as well and the youth addicted to drugs also get the opportunity to live their normal life once they are engaged in sports activities. In celebration of Azadi Ka Amrut Mahotsav J&K Police is organizing many more sports events for the youth of UT.
