Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani resigned on Saturday. It is unclear at this time what precipitated Mr Rupani’s resignation.

Mr Rupani is the fourth BJP chief minister to step down in recent months; in July BS Yediyurappa resigned as Chief Minister of Karnataka in July and the double whammy in Uttarakhand, where Tirath Singh Rawat quit barely four months after replacing Trivendra Rawat.

“I express my gratitude to the Bharatiya Janata Party for giving an important responsibility of the post of Chief Minister of Gujarat to a party worker like me. During my tenure as Chief Minister, I have been receiving special guidance from Honorable Prime Minister Shri Narendra Bhai Modi ji.

Under the leadership and guidance of Hon’ble Prime Minister, Gujarat has touched new dimensions by moving ahead on the path of holistic development and welfare of the people.

I also express my gratitude to the honorable Prime Minister for the opportunity given to me to contribute in the last five years in the journey of development of Gujarat.

I believe that now this journey of development of Gujarat should proceed under the leadership of the Prime Minister with a new enthusiasm and new energy.

Keeping this in mind, I am resigning from the responsibility of the Chief Minister of Gujarat.

Being an organization and ideology-based party, it is the tradition of the Bharatiya Janata Party that with the passage of time the responsibilities of the workers have also changed.

It is the specialty of our party that the responsibility which is given by the party, the party workers discharge it wholeheartedly. After discharging the responsibility given as Chief Minister, I have now resigned from the post of Chief Minister and expressed my desire to work with new energy in the organization of the party.

Now whatever responsibility will be given to me by the party, I will work with full responsibility and new energy under the leadership of the Prime Minister and under the guidance of the Honorable National President.

I also express my gratitude to the people of Gujarat, be it the by-elections or local body elections held in the last five years, the party and the government have received unprecedented support, cooperation and trust from the people of Gujarat.

The confidence of the people of Gujarat has also become the strength of the Bharatiya Janata Party and it has also been the energy for me to continue working in the public interest.

Our government has tried as much as possible to serve the public on the basis of four basic principles of administration, transparency, development, sensitivity and decisiveness. In this work, all the members of the cabinet, all the members of the assembly, party workers and people have got full cooperation.

I thank everyone for this cooperation.

In the tough times of Corona, our government has worked tirelessly day and night to keep the people of Gujarat as safe as possible. At the same time, Gujarat has also been a pioneer in the work of vaccination and we have set many new records in it.

I am very satisfied that I have got an opportunity to know and understand new experiences in administrative matters from the former National President of the party and Union Home Minister Shri Amit Shah ji and his cooperation and cooperation in the working of the party is invaluable to me.

The support and guidance of BJP National President Shri Jagat Prakash Nadda ji has also been unwavering for me.

My resignation will give an opportunity to the new leadership of the party in Gujarat and we will all unitedly take forward this development journey of Gujarat under the leadership of Hon’ble Prime Minister with new energy, new enthusiasm, new leadership”, said Former Gujarat CM in his resignation letter.
