Govt directs Housing Societies in Mumbai to follow lockdown rules

Mumbai: In a bid to control unnecessary crowds on the roads and ensure compliance of the lockdown measures, District Deputy Registrar (DDR), Cooperative Societies has issued directives to ensure that members of the society do not go out of the society premises unless it is absolutely necessary. In a three page directive issued on March 26 to the office bearers of the Cooperative Housing Societies, the DDR for both the suburbs of Mumbai has directed the management committee to collect demands for grocery, vegetables and other items from the members by intercom and make them available to the members for their collection at the society main gate.

The seven directives issued by the DDR include – provide sanitizer, soap, water etc. to every person entering in the society premises near the gate of the society.

To collect the demands of grocery, vegetables etc. necessary to each member by intercom and accordingly by placing the order of essential commodities (member wise) with nearest grocery shop or suppliers or vegetable vendor and call the commodities near the society gate and delivered the same to each member’s flat through the security or by calling one member from the family and distribute the same at the gate of society.  However precaution should be taken that there would not be any crowd while distributing the materials.

Food items, milk, vegetables and other essential commodities shall be provided at the gate of the society or public places through the supplying machinery.  Distribution of the same should be made properly by the office bearers.

Office bearers should ensure that,  those citizens who came in the society from foreign countries, and  have stamp on their hand as ‘Home Quarantine’, are following quarantine strictly and their health checking is made according instructions given by the medical officer.

It should be seen by the society management committee, that the authorized public notices issued by the Municipal Corporation for getting health check in the Municipal Corporation and Government Hospitals should be brought to the notice of the members of the society and follow the instructions given in it.

The office bearers should take precaution that the members of the society should not go out of the society unless unavoidable circumstances.  Also take prohibitory measures that members and children shall not come together at the club house, garden of the society.

The office bearers should take necessary care of senior citizens staying alone and handicapped persons in the society. The DDR has in its circular made it mandatory for the society management committee and its members to follow the directives strictly.
