Bollywood star Govinda was hospitalized early Tuesday morning after accidentally shooting himself in the leg with his licensed gun. The incident occurred at his residence in Mumbai, prompting a swift response from medical personnel and heavy police deployment outside Criti Care Hospital in Juhu, where the actor is currently recovering in the ICU.
According to police reports, Govinda was preparing to leave for Kolkata when he decided to check his firearm. As he retrieved the revolver from a cupboard, it slipped from his grip and discharged, striking him in the knee. His daughter, Tina Ahuja, and staff members quickly transported him to the hospital for urgent medical care.
Visuals from the hospital show former encounter specialist Daya Nayak visiting the actor. Nayak, who was seen entering and exiting the facility, refrained from commenting on the situation to awaiting media. The police presence at the hospital underscores the gravity of the incident.
Upon arrival at the hospital, doctors performed surgery to remove the bullet from Govinda’s knee. He is now under observation and recuperating in the ICU. After the procedure, the actor shared a voice message through his manager, expressing gratitude to the medical staff and his fans. “The bullet was removed from my knee, and I’m doing fine. Thank you all for your love and prayers,” he said.
Govinda, who has been actively involved in political events after joining Shiv Sena in March this year alongside Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, is expected to be discharged from the hospital once his injury heals completely. The incident has sparked concern among fans and the film industry, highlighting the need for caution with firearms, even among licensed owners.
As Govinda focuses on his recovery, fans and supporters are hoping for a swift return to health and public life.
