Goa unit of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) defended police action on the agitating students of Jamia Milia Islamia University saying that police had to enter campus as situation had turned tensed.
Responding to questions during a press conference at party state headquarters in the city, Goa BJP General Secretary Narendra Sawaikar said, “The situation was so much tensed that the police had to enter the university campus. You cannot say that police resorted to violence, it may be the other way round.”
He said no police would enter university campus unless situation demanded.
The former MP said, taking suo moto cognisance of the incident a Supreme Court judge had observed that students should not have anxiety on the issue.-UNI news
