Srinagar: With an objective to create awareness about fire safety and the ways to respond swiftly in times of any emergency situation, the Indian Army organised a Fire Safety Awareness Program for local villagers of Shidipura, Keegam and Shalpura at Chak Keegam. Event was organised in collaboration with the local Fire-brigade.

Fires can take lives and destroy property. If one has to handle a fire without damage then he/she must be aware of it at all times. One of the key strategies while talking about fire safety awareness is identifying possible means of risks of fire in your vicinity and taking preventive measures to ensure minimum damage and making sure that a well thought fire safety plan is in motion as soon as a fire breaks out.

During the conduct of the interactive Fire Safety Awareness Drive, locals were told to be very careful while handling electric appliances and gas cylinders. Various types of fire extinguishers used for extinguishing different kinds of fire were also demonstrated.

It was a great learning experience for everyone that helped them to understand the causes of fire and ways to combat it in an interactive manner. Around 150 locals including women attended Lecture-cum-demo during the Fire Safety Awareness Drive.

After the Fire Safety Awareness Event, Online Registration for Agniveer was also organised for aspirants.

Locals especially Women were extremely gratified and extended sincere thanks to the Indian Army for conducting the Fire Safety Awareness Event. The event was appreciated by the locals.
