Electricity not only plays hide and seek, but also weaves a math pattern in J&K

Power for just 2 hours out of 24 hours, and for 5 Days out of 7 days

Srinagar: Electricity not only plays hide and seek with the people of Srinagar valley, but it also weaves a teasing Math pattern that it follows to perfect annoyance of the residents. People from Lower Rajwar areas like Wadipora, Baki Aker, Budkoot etc are a miffed lot as the electricity plays truant with them on a daily basis.

The frustrating and teasing part of this all is that people here get electricity for not more than 2 hours out of the 24 hours. During the course of a week, the supply frequency comes to 5 days out 7 days of the week. To cut long tale short, the residents do not get power for not more than 10 hours in 5 days.

The residents complain that their children are not able to take online classes. This reporter spoke to one of the youngsters and he said “I am doing online business, for which I have to take part in online meetings but due to electricity shortage I cannot expand my business. There are many others people with similar stories to tell”.

The Maths and pattern that the electricity follows, makes the residents go hopping mad. People in these areas disclose that they also have another issue with the truant playing electricity, that in one week they only receive the electricity for 2 hours for 5 days and for 2 days the electricity leaves them in the dark, as it goes on a long weekend.

They also claim that the people of Upper Rajwar receive electricity properly but cannot understand why they have to endure such mental harassment . The residents have appealed with folded hands to the electricity administration of Handwara to solve their problems.

“If we are living in 21st century and also in this lockdown, least the administration can do is to help us as we want to work from our homes but due to this problem we cannot do anything. If this is Digital India then why aren’t we digital after all we are also a part of this nation”, said one of the local residents while speaking on conditions of anonymity.- By Aadil Akbar
