Delhi Voter Roll Update: Election Commission Extends Electoral Revision Exercise by 12 Days

Draft Voter List to Be Released on August 17

The Election Commission has revised the schedule for Delhi’s Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls, granting an additional 12 days to complete the verification process. The extension is intended to provide voters with more time to verify their details and submit any necessary corrections before the electoral rolls are finalised.

Under the updated timetable, the draft voter list will now be published on August 17, replacing the earlier date of August 5. The period for filing claims and objections has also been extended accordingly.

Door-to-Door Verification Gets More Time

As part of the revised schedule, Booth Level Officers (BLOs) will continue their house-to-house verification drive until August 8, instead of concluding it on July 29. The Election Commission said the additional time would help ensure more accurate voter records and allow eligible citizens to be included in the electoral roll.

Final Electoral Roll to Be Published in October

After all claims and objections are examined, the final electoral roll will now be published on October 19. The Commission said the revised timeline is aimed at improving the quality of voter data while encouraging greater public participation in the revision exercise.

Delhi is part of the third phase of the nationwide Special Intensive Revision programme, launched in May. With the completion of this phase, the exercise will cover almost the entire country, excluding Himachal Pradesh, Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh.

The Commission recently announced similar deadline extensions for Andhra Pradesh and Haryana, where voter verification and publication of draft electoral rolls have also been rescheduled to give election officials more time to complete the process accurately.
