Delhi’s ₹2,500 Monthly Aid for Women: Eligibility Rules Finalised, Lakshmi Yojana Likely to Launch Around Raksha Bandhan

The Delhi government has moved a step closer to launching its much-awaited monthly financial assistance programme for women after finalising the eligibility guidelines for the initiative. The scheme, named Delhi Lakshmi Yojana, is expected to begin around Raksha Bandhan, with beneficiaries set to receive ₹2,500 every month through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT).

While the registration process and official launch date are yet to be announced, the government has outlined the conditions that applicants must meet to qualify for the benefit.

Who Can Apply Under Delhi Lakshmi Yojana?

Under the proposed scheme, women between 21 and 60 years of age who are permanent residents of Delhi will be eligible to apply.

The government has decided that only one woman from each household can receive the monthly assistance. If multiple women in the same family meet the eligibility requirements, the eldest eligible woman will be selected as the beneficiary.

Officials have also specified that applicants, as well as their family members, should not have any criminal record.

Who Will Not Be Eligible?

The financial assistance will not be available to women who are already receiving a government pension or any other regular financial support from government welfare schemes.

Additionally, households that own a four-wheeler will be excluded from the programme, making the scheme primarily targeted at economically weaker families.

Government Reviews Rollout Plan

Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Monday reviewed the implementation roadmap with senior government officials and instructed departments to ensure that the scheme is rolled out in a transparent and time-bound manner.

The administration is expected to announce registration details soon, after which eligible women will be able to submit applications for the monthly benefit.

The initiative is aimed at providing direct financial support to women from economically weaker sections while ensuring that the assistance reaches genuine beneficiaries through a streamlined verification process.
