Cyclone Tauktae: Mumbai airport close operations from 11 am to 2 pm, flights suspended

With the approach of the impending very severe cyclonic storm Tauktae, Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport (CSMIA) is closing down all flight operations from 1100 am to 2 pm today as a precautionary measure. The airport has so far witnessed one diversion.

Besides, the IMD has said that moderate to intense spells of rain with gusty winds reaching 90-100 kilometer per hour is likely to occur at isolated places in the districts of Raigad, Palghar, Mumbai, Thane and Ratnagiri during next 3 hours. The IMD also said, during the last 24 hours highest rainfall was recorded over Colaba station. The BMC has said that Bandra-Worli sealink will be closed to commute till further update.

The civic body has asked people to take alternative routes if at all they have any plans to move out. However, the BMC has reiterated its appeal to the people to stay indoors today unless it is absolutely unavoidable.
