Mumbai: Dean of the Faculty of Philology Department of the Voronezh State University (VSU), Russian Federation Zhanna Gracheva has argued that only culture can stop aggression: – Culture is the mechanism that is designed to save life on earth. She said this while addressing the All-Russian scientific and methodological conference with international participation on “Contemporary Art Practices in higher education” at the main building of the University here recently.
Recalling that the conference is being held for the first time, she drew the attention of the conference participants on the thoughts of the economist and Nobel Prize winner Klein Lawrence, who believed that only culture can stop aggression: “Culture is the mechanism that is designed to save life on earth,” Zhanna Gracheva concluded.
The organizer of the conference is the Faculty of Philology of the Voronezh State University, Professor Olga Berdnikova, the Chairman of the organizing committee of the conference.
Vidya Swarge-Madane is an alumnus of Voronezh State University’s Journalism Department. She felt very proud when she received an invitation from her own university. She presented her paper with the presentation on “Museums in Mumbai, India”. India’s most popular city of Mumbai has many museums. The more you know about the past through museums, you can better be prepared for your future, she stressed in her presentation.
The Head of Russian Language Department of Russian House, Mumbai Vidya Swarge–Madane participated in an International Seminar held by Voronezh State University, Russia.
The plenary session was opened by Larisa Rybacheva, Deputy Chairman of the Organizing Committee, Associate Professor of the Department of Russian Literature of the XX and XXI Centuries, Theory of Literature and Humanities of the Faculty of Philology of the Voronezh University.
Oleg Kozaderov, Vice-Rector for Science, Innovation and Digitalization of Voronezh State University, read out a welcoming speech from the University Rector Dmitry Endovitsky and noted that the international conference proves once again that there can be no question of any “Cancellation of the Culture”.
Larisa Rybacheva, curator of the direction, talked about the educational direction “Arts and Humanities”, which in present days (including within the framework of the conference) is acquiring a special status and causing interest among students. Polina Bobrovskaya, lecturer at the Department of Russian Literature of the 20th and 21st Centuries, Theory of Literature and the Humanities, a graduate of the Master’s program in Arts and Humanities, spoke about the project “Russian Fairy Tale Holiday”, which has been implemented at the Faculty of Philology for many years.
The conference program included reports and speeches by teachers and students of the humanities of Voronezh and foreign universities. The seminar was attended by the representatives of the general education institutions, professors of Voronezh State University, representatives of Cultural institutions and organizations of the city, leading figures in culture, art, and science of the region.
