Mumbai: For a male Muslim, it is compulsory to go to a mosque for prayers five times in a day, however, amid this Coronavirus spread, all the mosques have been shut in India for the good. Seeing this situation, the religious priests have announced to people that there is no need to come to mosques as one can pray at home in this lockdown.

The mosques have put posters at the gates informing the faithfuls that due to lockdown there will be no Namaz, so all the people should pray at home. Only azan is recited in the loudspeaker five times in a day so that people should know that it is payer time.

Even the Muslim Personal Law Board (MPLB) has appealed to Muslims that they should stay away from the mosques.

“Due to #NovelCoronavirus pandemic, Muslims are recommended to offer Zuhur at home instead of praying Jumah at mosques. DON’T come out for congregational prayers and Imams, muezzins, khadims. It is mandatory upon all to avoid causing harm to their fellow citizens,” tweeted AIMPLB late on Thursday night.

Jamaat-e-Islami Sharia Council had said in a statement: “The Friday prayers (Juma Namaz) should be observed (only by Imams, muezzins, khadims, and administrators of mosques). The prayers and the ‘khutbah’ (speech) should be completed in the minimum possible period whereas the remaining public should conduct the ‘Zohar’ prayer at home.”

Even the general public is taking this announcement seriously and is avoiding going to mosques for prayers. Even other religious places like Temples, Church, Gurudwara and other faiths have shut their religious places so there should be no social gathering.
