Congress Eyes Major Leadership Reset Across States Ahead of Key Electoral Battles

The Congress leadership is reportedly preparing a wide-ranging organisational restructuring exercise that could bring significant changes to several state units as the party seeks to sharpen its electoral strategy and strengthen its grassroots presence ahead of upcoming Assembly elections.

According to sources, discussions within the party have gathered pace over reshaping leadership structures in multiple states, with a focus on improving coordination, boosting worker engagement and building stronger state-level organisations.

Southern States May See New Leadership Faces

As part of the proposed revamp, the Congress is believed to be evaluating leadership changes in key southern states where the party is looking to reinforce its political position.

Sources indicated that state units in Kerala, Tamil Nadu and Karnataka are among those under review, with the leadership exploring options to inject fresh energy into the organisation and improve election preparedness.

Party strategists reportedly feel that organisational strengthening in southern India will remain crucial for the Congress in the coming years.

Review Underway in Several Other States

The exercise is not expected to be limited to the south. Internal assessments are also said to be underway in Delhi, Punjab, Chhattisgarh and Rajasthan, where the party is examining organisational performance and future political requirements.

Leaders familiar with the discussions said the objective is to create more effective state units capable of responding quickly to local political challenges while maintaining stronger links with party workers.

State In-Charges Also Under Scanner

Apart from possible changes in state leadership, the Congress is also considering a reshuffle of state in-charges, who play an important role in coordinating between the party’s central leadership and regional units.

Sources suggest that fresh appointments could be considered for organisational responsibilities in Assam, Tamil Nadu and Maharashtra as part of efforts to streamline communication and improve election planning.

Focus on Grassroots Expansion

The proposed restructuring comes at a time when the Congress is attempting to rebuild its organisational machinery and improve its performance in states where it faces strong political competition.

While the party has not officially announced any appointments or changes, insiders indicate that consultations are ongoing and decisions could be taken after internal reviews are completed.

The exercise is being viewed as one of the Congress’s most significant organisational initiatives in recent months, with the leadership aiming to position the party for a stronger electoral push across multiple states.
