Congress MP Gaurav Gogoi Questions Transparency in Modi-Trump Talks, Flags Diplomatic Disconnect

New Delhi: Congress MP Gaurav Gogoi on Wednesday raised serious concerns over the alleged lack of clarity and transparency in communication between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and former U.S. President Donald Trump. His remarks come after Trump made claims suggesting a dialogue with the Indian leadership over critical international matters, prompting the Congress leader to demand answers from the government.

Speaking to the media, Gogoi said, “It seems that there is no conversation happening between President Trump and Prime Minister Modi. The statements coming from both sides are inconsistent. Either someone is withholding the truth, or there is a serious lack of coordination.”

Gogoi pointed out the apparent absence of diplomatic engagement between senior American officials like Senator Marco Rubio and India’s External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar. “Are there no formal conversations between Marco Rubio and EAM Jaishankar? These gaps reflect poorly on the current state of India-U.S. relations,” he added.

Highlighting the confusion caused by Trump’s recent remarks, Gogoi emphasized that the Indian public deserves clarity. “We expected Prime Minister Modi to address the issue directly and state whether or not he had any communication with President Trump on the matter. Silence only fuels doubt.”

The Congress MP also warned that such discrepancies could erode trust in India’s global diplomacy and questioned the Modi government’s commitment to transparent foreign policy.
