Chaos in Lok Sabha: Amit Shah Faces Torn Copies of Controversial Bills Amid Heated Debate

New Delhi: A fiery session unfolded in the Lok Sabha on Wednesday as Union Home Minister Amit Shah faced an unprecedented protest during the introduction of three contentious bills. Copies of the Constitution (130th Amendment) Bill, 2025, Government of Union Territories (Amendment) Bill, 2025, and Jammu and Kashmir Reorganisation (Amendment) Bill, 2025 were reportedly torn and hurled towards the Home Minister by opposition lawmakers, escalating tensions on the floor of Parliament.

Responding to opposition criticism, Shah addressed NK Premachandran’s allegation that the bills were being rushed. “There is no question of haste. I am about to request that the Bill be sent to a Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC). The JPC will include members from both Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha, representing the ruling and opposition sides. They will deliberate thoroughly and bring it before you,” Shah said.

The protest marked a dramatic escalation in parliamentary proceedings, with several MPs expressing outrage over the proposed legislation that could mandate the removal of the Prime Minister, Chief Ministers, and Union or State Ministers if detained for 30 consecutive days on serious criminal charges.
