CEC Sunil Arora visits Ranchi to review Jharkhand assembly poll preparedness

Election Commission headed by Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Sunil Arora will visit Ranchi Wednesday and interact with various stakeholders in the upcoming Jharkhand assembly elections as part of its review of the state’s poll preparedness. Chief Election Commissioner Sunil Arora along with Election Commissioner Ashok Lavasa and Sushil Chandra will hold meetings with civil administration and police officials besides various parties’ leaders to take stock of the state’s poll readiness. On second day, November 21 Election Commission will hold meeting with other enforcement agencies along with  chief secretary and DGP of Jharkhand. 

Prior to CEC visit , Deputy Election Commissioner Sudip Jain and ECI secretary Arvind Anand yesterday reviewed state’s poll preparedness and gave necessary instructions for free and fair elections. On the other hand scrutiny of nomination papers for second phase of election is over. After completion of scrutiny total of 279 candidates are now in the fray. The last day of withdrawal of nomination paper is November 21 and voting is scheduled for December 7. For third phase of assembly election, nomination process is on. The last day of nomination for third phase of election is November 26 and poll will be held on December 12. The five phase Jharkhand assembly election will conclude with counting of votes on December 23. (Agencies).
