In a recent development, Bharatiya Janata Party MLA-elect Raja Singh expressed strong opposition to Akbaruddin Owaisi’s appointment as the pro-tem Speaker of the Telangana assembly. Singh declared that he and other BJP MLAs would abstain from participating in the oath-taking event where the All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) lawmaker would preside over the proceedings.

The scheduled oath-taking ceremony for the newly-elected MLAs of Telangana, as outlined in a government order (GO), is slated for 11 am on Saturday.

Akbaruddin Owaisi assumed the role of pro-tem Speaker at the Telangana legislative assembly, taking the oath at Raj Bhawan on Saturday morning.

In a poignant video message, Raja Singh conveyed his staunch stance, stating that he would refrain from taking the oath “as long as he is alive” in the presence of AIMIM. He specifically cited Owaisi’s past remarks deemed as anti-Hindu, questioning the propriety of taking an oath before an individual who had made such comments.
