Mumbai: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MLA Mihir Kotecha raised questions over the ₹106 contract given in regards to Byculla zoo by BrihanMumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC).

Kotecha alleged that BMC kept in mind specific companies and awarded this contract. He alleges that there is some nexus between BMC and the private company that has got the contract. Companies name Highway & Skyway have got contract of making an enclosure for special spices Animal in Byculla zoo for which BMC will be spending ₹106cr

“I feel that the percentage was already fixed and the contract was given to one particular company,” said Kotecha while speaking with media at Mumbai.

He further added, “If the work order is more than ₹100cr then contract should have been awarded together and not separate. But here both companies look to have nexus.”

According to Kotecha, tender has been floated but no work order has been issued yet. Kotecha also feels that there might be involvement of Chief Minister’s office (CMO) to award contracts to these two companies, even the involvement of retired BMC officials who know everything can’t be ruled out.

Kotecha alleged that since 2016 Highway & Skyways companies was getting contracts for zoos which shows that BMC officials are doing some special favour to this company.

“I demand this contract should be cancelled and if that doesn’t happen will show proofs which I have got and exposed the people involved in this,” said Kotech.
