Bihar Deputy CM Vijay Sinha Faces Allegations of Holding Two Voter IDs in Separate Constituencies

Patna: A fresh political controversy has erupted in Bihar after the state Congress unit accused Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Kumar Sinha of possessing two separate voter identity cards registered in different constituencies. The allegation follows closely on the heels of a similar row involving RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav over duplicate EPIC (Electors Photo Identity Card) numbers during the Election Commission’s ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls.

According to the Bihar Congress, Sinha’s name appears in the draft voter lists of both Lakhisarai and Bankipur constituencies. In a post on social media platform X, the party claimed:

“The biggest fraud turned out to be Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Sinha! Sir is a voter in two places – Lakhisarai and Bankipur, Patna. Sir has filled SIR forms in both places. His name has appeared in the draft lists in both.”

Party officials detailed that the Lakhisarai voter card bears EPIC number IAF39393370, records his age as 57, and lists his father as the late Sharda Raman Singh. The serial number on this entry is 274. In contrast, the Bankipur card carries EPIC number AFS0853341, lists his name as Vijay Kumar Sinha, gives his age as 60, and bears serial number 767, with the same father’s name.

The Congress said this duplication raises serious concerns about the integrity of the voter roll revision, reiterating Rahul Gandhi’s earlier claims of “collusion” between the BJP and the Election Commission.

RJD leader and former deputy chief minister Tejashwi Yadav also weighed in, accusing both the BJP and the poll body of malpractice.

“Bihar’s Deputy Chief Minister has two EPIC numbers, in two different constituencies. One card says he is 57, the other says he is 60. This is visible online on the Election Commission’s application and is present in the voter list distributed to all district party presidents. So who is doing fraud here? Either the SIR process is fraudulent, or the Deputy CM is,” Yadav said.

Yadav further alleged that the current voter list revision in Bihar was “invalid” and vowed to raise the issue in court.
