Former Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel and Youth Congress National President Uday Bhanu Chib visited Chaitanya Baghel (Bhupesh Baghel’s son) and senior tribal leader and former minister Kawasi Lakhma at the central jail on Thursday, in connection with the ongoing Chhattisgarh liquor scam investigation.
Speaking to the media after the visit, Baghel said, “Our Youth Congress National President was here at jail to meet our senior tribal leader Kawasi Lakhma and Chaitanya Baghel. Chaitanya had a viral fever due to water-related issues but has now partly recovered, whereas Lakhma’s weight has been dropping.”
The meeting comes amid growing political uproar over the high-profile arrests linked to the multi-crore liquor scam. The case, which has already seen several senior Congress leaders under the scanner, has become a flashpoint between the BJP-led state government and the opposition Congress.
