Bhiwandi: A 33-year-old man from Bhiwandi gave triple talaq to his wife on WhatsApp in three different languages (English, Urdu, and Arabic), said Bhiwandi police on Friday. The accused has been identified as Mohammad Junaid Ansari (33), who resides at Aampada area in Chavindra road, Bhiwandi.
The incident has come to light even as the anti-Triple Talaq act came into force on July 31, 2019 and also the Supreme Court ruling of 2017.
Shantinagar police station of Bhiwandi have registered a case against Junaid Ansari under relevant section of Muslim Women (Protection of Rights on Marriage) Act and under 323, 504 of Indian Penal Code.
Police said that the triple talaq message had been received on the victim mobile phone between September 7 to September 12 into three different languages (English, Urdu, and Arabic).
Police said the victim statement was recorded in her complaint, said that she resided at her husband’s residence and her husband kicked her out of home on March 22. Since then, she has been residing at her maternal home.
She approached the local police station on Thursday. Taking a serious note of the matter, police has booked a case against him. But no arrest has been made yet. Police are investigating the matter.
