Mumbai: Recently appointed Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Mumbai unit president Ashish Shelar on Monday fired his first political salvo aimed at former chief minister Uddhav Thackeray led Shiv Sena ahead of the crucial Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) elections.
In a sarcastic tone, the Mumbai BJP unit president summed up the Thackeray led Sena faction as “Bash-Smash-Quit – Mission Marathi ”. He further added that the Thackeray led Sena faction could bury someone for its own advantage! The sarcasm laden, acerbic jibe comes on a day when Union Home Minister Amit Shah arrived in Mumbai for Ganesh darshan and to launch partys BMC election campaign.
“What are you talking about bashing and smashing up people…. Who is responsible for shutting down BMC’s Marathi schools? Who asked Sachin Vaze to work as a recovery agent? Who is to be blamed for the accidental death of Dr. Amrapurkar? Who struck an alliance with the Congress, the party that was responsible for killing Marathi manoos during the Samyukta Maharashtra Movement?”, asked Shelar.
Shelar further quizzed Thackeray led Sena, “Bash, Smash, Quit – this is your Mission Marathi. Whether it calls to even bury Marathi Manoos, you will not hesitate as long as your aspirations are fulfilled. Do you have an explanation?”
The Mumbai BJP unit president argued, “Your slogan that we are trying to create a divide in Marathi Manoos, is 100% fallacious!”
Shelar further remarked, “non-Marathi speaking contractors and builders fed you for so many years…. Who siphoned off commission of over Rs 3 lakh crore? Who is responsible for ruining the mill workers? Who was responsible to ensure that young Marathi boys only sell Vadapav? And then these people were free to take credit for how they only worked for the upliftment of Marathi Manoos…. Now they are asking Marathi Manoos to move ahead? Where do they intend to drive Marathi Manoos out of Mumbai to may be Vasai or Virar? Or maybe even further?
“This cannot be a mission…. It is only a way out for commission”, quipped Shelar.
Launching a tirade against the Thackeray led Sena, Shelar added, “efficient leaders quit the party… Brother ‘Raj’ set up his own party…. MPs, MLAs, and Corporators are all fed up… They also got their chief minister in the wrong manner. He had to step down from his position.”
“All this happened only to fulfil one single ego…. Still, this ‘Penguin Sena’ is not budging and is continuing its mission to criticise…. Why are you covering up your failure under the guise of Marathi Manoos? Why are you reminded of Marathi poems to cover up your failures? Why are you defaming the saffron for your selfish aspirations? ‘Sour Grapes!’ Left with no other alternative to cover your failures!”, further remarked Shelar.
