Awareness campaign on drug de-addiction and counselling centre organised at Kupwara

Srinagar: An awareness campaign was conducted on October 21 as part of the on-going campaign to create awareness prior to the inauguration of Drug De-addiction and Counselling Center at Kupwara.

The event was conducted at Government Boys Higher secondary school, Kandi and a number of talented speakers from Tangdhar spoke on the prevailing drug menace. Approximately 200 people witnessed the event with many fruitful contributions from the locals.

Dr Javed Iqbal Dar, Medical Officer, Government District Hospital, Handwara, psychological Counsellors, and other qualified speakers from Kupwara shared their experience with the students and people of Tangdhar pertaining to the menace of drugs.

The Doctor spoke about the importance of fighting this menace collectively and said that this is an illness that needs treatment in the society while the other speakers mentioned the importance of the youth in countering the drug menace in Kupwara.

The event is an endeavour by the Indian Army and Civil Administration of Kupwara to collectively counter this menace and wean away the youth from indulging in these life threatening practices of drug abuse.
