O. Rilando Shallam

O. Rilando Shallam is a retired Associate Professor and former Head of the Department of History at Kiang Nangbah Government College, Jowai, where he taught for more than 33 years. A historian of Meghalaya’s indigenous communities and traditions, he has served on several national and academic bodies, including the Board of Management of Tezpur University as a nominee of the President of India. As President of Seiñraij, Jowai, he has been actively involved in preserving the Niamtre indigenous faith and cultural heritage of the Jaintia people, including leading landmark legal efforts to safeguard indigenous religious rights.
