Srinagar: Army Chief General Upendra Dwivedi arrived in Kashmir on Friday to assess the security situation following the deadly Pahalgam terror attack earlier this week, which claimed the lives of 26 individuals, primarily tourists. The attack, which occurred on Tuesday, has drawn heightened concerns regarding the safety of tourists and the overall security environment in the region.

Accompanied by Lt Gen MV Suchindra Kumar, the Army Commander of Northern Command, General Dwivedi is set to conduct a detailed review of the security measures currently in place across Jammu and Kashmir. Top Army commanders will brief the Army Chief on the steps taken in the wake of the attack and the current security strategy moving forward.

Officials confirmed that the visit aims to ensure that all necessary actions are being taken to safeguard civilians and prevent further acts of terrorism. General Dwivedi’s presence in the region comes amid rising tensions along the Line of Control (LoC), where Pakistan engaged in small arms firing in Jammu and Kashmir less than 24 hours before the Army Chief’s arrival.
