Akhilesh Yadav Alleges BJP’s Land Grab Plot Across UP, Targets Gorakhpur Irregularities

Lucknow: Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav has levelled serious accusations against the ruling BJP in Uttar Pradesh, claiming it is systematically grabbing land in districts across the state using government machinery and intimidation tactics.

Speaking at a press conference on Saturday, Yadav alleged that bulldozers and administrative resources, backed by BJP supporters, were being misused to forcibly acquire land from ordinary citizens without fair compensation.

He singled out Gorakhpur, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s political stronghold, claiming widespread irregularities in property registrations.

“The people of Gorakhpur should ask in whose name the maximum number of registries have been done,” Yadav questioned, adding, “If the truth about Gorakhpur comes out, they’ll need to build a custody corridor instead of passing on inheritance.”

According to Yadav, locals are being pressured through fear and police coercion into signing consent papers, denying them their rightful compensation. He linked these tactics to similar land disputes in Ayodhya, Banaras, and even Lucknow, accusing the BJP of repeating a pattern of land grabs.

“Even their own advisor had to resign. I don’t know who he was colluding with, but those he worked with have now fled the country,” Yadav remarked.

He further criticised the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) over its reported push to remove the terms “Socialist” and “Secular” from the Constitution’s Preamble, arguing that it revealed a deeper hostility to reservation policies.

“Those who oppose reservation do not say it directly. They attack socialism and secularism instead,” he said.
