Pune: Senior BJP MLA Adv Ashish Shelar on Friday levelled serious allegations of a Rs 1,000 crore scam in the Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority (PMRDA’s) proposed development plan. Addressing the Samarth booth campaign workers meeting at Kamshet, Maval, he argued the PMRDA plan was nothing but a ploy against the interests of the small farmers and the local residents from Maval taluka in Pune.
“While the small farmers will have to sacrifice their lands for the development of the region, the benefit will be transferred only to the selected few large so-called ‘developer’ farmers”, alleged Shelar.
Coming down heavily on the Shiv Sena, Congress and NCP ruled Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) government in the state for proposing plans that are detrimental to the poor farmers. Shelar further remarked, “The proposed development plan is aimed at removing reservations against the interests of the farmers in Maval taluka and opening up reservations for the so-called farmer ‘developers’ for residential zones. By changing the reservations of the agricultural lands and farm houses, the reservations are made in a way that it will be detrimental to the small farmers.”
He questioned as to how a farmer was allocated a 1000-acre land that was entirely allocated and reserved for the residential zone?
Shelar pointed out that after the implementation of the so-called development plan, if the son of a small farmer who intends to start his own venture on his father’s agricultural land by seeking benefit from the central government’s ‘Start Up India Stand Up India’ scheme, the poor fellow will not be able to start his own business. This is nothing but a ploy to suppress the poor, he alleged.
Thackeray government’s insensitivity towards youth in the state
He also criticised the Thackeray government for not fulfilling its promise made while offering condolences to the family of the MPSC aspirant Swapnil Lonkar during the assembly session. Terming it as unfortunate, Shelar said that the information about the vacancies for service recruitment was unavailable with the general administration department. The set deadline expired on September 30. This clearly shows how serious the government is towards the issues of the youth in the state, he added.
