Maharashtra: Kolhapur, Sangli and Satara districts facing flood like situation due to rise in water level in rivers

Kolhapur, Sangli and Satara districts in Maharashtra are facing flood like situation due to rise in water level in rivers. NDRF has deployed 26 teams across Maharashtra ahead of IMD’s prediction of heavy rainfall.

In Kolhapur, the Panchanga River is flowing above danger level. In Satara, Kriahna and Karad rivers have reached danger level.

Whereas in Sangli, Warna and Yerla rivers are also flowing at danger level. People residing at the river bank have been alerted and have been shifted to safe places.

Water has subsided in Chiplun, Khed and Mahad in Ratnagiri. Rescue operation is underway in Taliye Village and 37 bodies have been recovered so far from debris. 4 bodies have been recovered from the Posare Khurd village landslide site in Ratnagiri.

NDRF is distributing food packets as part of relief operation in the aftermath of heavy rains that led to flood like situation in Maharashtra.
