Fadnavis lashes out at Sena led MVA government, says do not indulge in corruption in times of crisis

Mumbai: Leader of Opposition in Legislative Assembly, Devendra Fadnavis on Tuesday lashed out at the Shiv Sena, Congress, Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) led Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) urging it not to indulge in corruption in times of crisis.

Taking part in the debate on Supplementary Demands on the budget, the former chief minister remarked that the Coronavirus pandemic situation in the state is out of hand. There is a dance of death that is going on in the state at the moment. Even in this crisis, corruption is rampant. While smaller states are giving relief packages, no section of the society has been helped by the relief offered by the MVA government. This government has failed on all fronts. This government has left people in the lurch for death, said Fadnavis.

When the last session of the legislature was held on March 24, the number of patients was 28 and today it is 9.25 lakh. Maharashtra also has the highest rate of infection among health workers and accounts for 38 percent of the total deaths in the country. The death toll in Corona is on the rise in Maharashtra.

The situation is dire straits in many cities in the state. But the picture is different. In Mumbai, the government is showing 7500 deaths, but in fact 15 thousand have died. We are fighting numbers, not corona. There is no help for the poor, it is time for him to die. Today, Rs 20 lakh bills are being handed down to the patients.  He who has no money in his pocket is left to die. The mortality rate is 37 percent, there is no such rate anywhere in the world, but does anyone care? asked Fadnavis.

Fadnavis called upon the government not to indulge in politics in times of Corona era. But, even in this situation, corruption is like denying dignity in death. He hoped that those who committed corruption should not be spared. He urged the government not to make the Covid treatment centers a death trap.

Speaking about the final year exams, he said, the rulers are not just making popular decisions. The interest of the society has to be taken into consideration. That is our responsibility. He further said that if the government’s economy was not good, some expenses could have been avoided.

It is unfortunate that small states make decisions and no decisions are made in Maharashtra.  Commenting upon the Metro 3 carshed at Aarey Milk Colony, Fadnavis stated that if the work of Mumbai Metro is stopped, there would be a loss of Rs 5 crore per day. He argued that the previous Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) led government had explored all the options at that time left with no choice and hence the site at Aarey was finally decided. The entire burden of increased cost, cost of land purchase will fall on ordinary Mumbaikars. Not every question is about prestige, he remarked.
