A 34-year-old man has been arrested in Uttar Pradesh’s Hardoi after allegedly killing his wife while she was asleep, following repeated disputes over his suspicion that she was involved with another man.
The incident took place in the Islamnagar Tiliya area of Hardoi, where the couple had been living in a rented house. The accused, identified as Parvez, later went to a police station and surrendered himself, according to police.
The victim has been identified as Nagma. Police said the couple had been married for around 12 years and their relationship had reportedly become strained over the past several months.
Husband Suspected Wife Was Talking to Another Man
According to investigators, Parvez had been repeatedly accusing Nagma of communicating with another man over the phone.
The suspicion reportedly led to frequent arguments between the couple. Police are examining the circumstances surrounding the disputes as part of the murder investigation.
The couple had moved into the rented accommodation after Parvez sold his ancestral property. Reports said they had been staying there for around one-and-a-half months before the incident.
Nagma Was Attacked While She Was Asleep
Police said the alleged attack took place during the night while Nagma was sleeping.
Parvez allegedly used a sharp-edged weapon to attack her. The assault resulted in her death, with reports stating that the injuries were fatal.
After the incident, Parvez went to the local police station and surrendered. Police subsequently reached the house and began investigating the crime scene.
The victim’s body was sent for a postmortem examination, while investigators began efforts to recover the weapon allegedly used in the attack.
Family Alleges Earlier Domestic Abuse
Nagma’s family has made additional allegations against Parvez and some of his relatives.
Her sister, Sabbo, alleged that Nagma had been subjected to physical abuse and intimidation before the murder. She also claimed that Parvez had threatened Nagma in the days leading up to the incident.
Nagma’s mother, Zahida, similarly alleged that her daughter had faced repeated harassment from her husband and in-laws.
Police are verifying these allegations and examining whether anyone else was involved in the events surrounding the murder.
Police Investigate Motive and Possible Prior Violence
Investigators are questioning Parvez to establish the sequence of events and determine what led to the fatal attack.
The alleged affair suspicion is currently being examined as a possible motive, but police are also looking into the couple’s history of domestic disputes and the allegations made by Nagma’s family.
Officers are also trying to locate the weapon allegedly used in the crime and are checking other evidence gathered from the house.
