An 81-year-old man who says he was a schoolmate of Prime Minister Narendra Modi has approached the Prime Minister seeking intervention in a decades-old land dispute in Bhayander and requesting a CBI investigation into alleged forgery and encroachment.
Asgarali Vohra met Modi and submitted his grievances over a plot measuring around 2,810 square metres on Navghar Road in Bhayander East.
Vohra Claims Land Was Transferred Through Forged Documents
Vohra said he purchased the property through a registered agreement in 1989 and maintained that he has never sold or transferred the land.
According to his complaint, documents relating to the property were allegedly fabricated in 2011 in connection with Swayam Builders. He claims the original plot was subsequently divided into two portions without his knowledge or consent.
Vohra further alleged that one portion was shown as being in the possession of Swayam Builders, while the other was recorded in the possession of Seven Eleven Constructions, which he claims is associated with local BJP MLA Narendra Mehta.
The allegations have not been independently established in the information provided.
Allegations Against Civic And Police Authorities
Vohra has also raised questions over permissions granted for construction on the disputed property.
He alleged that the Town Planning Department of the Mira-Bhayander Municipal Corporation (MBMC) allowed construction activity on the land despite his objections.
The 81-year-old further claimed that the civic administration, revenue authorities and local police failed to take effective action over the alleged fabrication of property documents.
FIR Filed In 2015, Probe Reportedly Delayed
Vohra said he approached the authorities and an FIR was registered in 2015 in connection with the alleged fraud. The matter subsequently reached the courts.
However, he claimed that a CID report in the case was submitted only in 2026, around 11 years after the FIR was registered.
Vohra has questioned the prolonged delay and alleged that political influence may have affected the pace of the proceedings. He also claimed that counter-cases were filed against him in 2025 without giving him adequate prior notice or an opportunity to present his side.
These claims remain allegations unless established through the ongoing legal process.
Hearing Scheduled For September 16
Following Vohra’s meeting with the Prime Minister, the local civic administration has taken up the matter.
A hearing has been scheduled for September 16, with representatives of the construction companies involved in the dispute directed to remain present.
Vohra is seeking a central investigation into the alleged forgery and wants the authorities to examine how the disputed property records were created and how construction permissions were granted.
