A team from the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) was allegedly attacked on Friday while travelling to a government school in Jaipur’s Bagru assembly constituency to examine its condition and facilities.
CJP co-convener Ashutosh Ranka and several party volunteers were reportedly confronted by a group near Rampura Kanwarpura village. Ranka alleged that the group assaulted members of his team, leaving one volunteer with a fractured arm.
The alleged attack took place as the CJP team was preparing to visit two government schools in the area. The group planned to inspect the buildings, facilities and conditions in which students were studying.
CJP Team Planned School Inspection
According to the party, the first visit was planned at the government school in Rampura Kanwarpura, while another school at Bhatta Wala on Vatika Road was also on their schedule.
Ranka had previously raised concerns about the condition of the Rampura Kanwarpura school. He alleged that parts of the main building had deteriorated, including sections of the roof and supporting beams, making the structure unsafe for students.
The school building was reportedly closed, with students being moved to a temporary shed located nearby.
Students Allegedly Studying In Temporary Shed
Ranka claimed that students were attending classes under a tin roof after being shifted from the main school building.
He also alleged that the temporary structure had poor conditions, including animal fodder and construction debris in the area. The CJP team said its visit was intended to document such issues and examine the facilities available to students.
Political Allegations Over Attack
Ranka alleged that people associated with the ruling BJP were behind the attack. However, the political affiliation of those involved has not been independently established.
A video circulating online appears to show a confrontation between the CJP team and a group of people. Chants of “Jai Shri Ram” can reportedly be heard in the footage.
The BJP’s response to the allegations was not immediately available.
The incident has added to the political controversy surrounding CJP teams visiting government schools in different parts of the country to highlight concerns over public education infrastructure.
