A clip from an Independence Day programme at a school in Kashmir has pulled former actor Zaira Wasim into a public debate with the Jammu and Kashmir Waqf Board.
Her objection, she has been careful to say, is not directed at the children seen in the video, but at the institution associated with the event and the choices it made about how students were involved.
What the Video Shows
The clip, which circulated widely on social media, shows young girls performing a dance routine to a Kashmiri song during an Independence Day programme at a school in Kashmir.
Reports have linked the event to the J&K Waqf Board, though the school itself has not been consistently identified in public coverage and the precise nature of the Board’s role in organising or overseeing the programme remains unclear.
