Rahul Gandhi Says PM Modi’s ‘Political End Has Come’, Claims Search For Successor Is Underway

Congress leader and Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi reportedly launched a sharp attack on Prime Minister Narendra Modi during the Congress Working Committee (CWC) meeting in New Delhi on Wednesday, claiming that the Modi government has entered what he described as its “final phase”.

According to media reports citing sources present at the meeting, Gandhi told senior Congress leaders that Modi’s political influence was declining and alleged that discussions about his successor had already begun.

Gandhi was quoted as saying in Hindi: “Narendra Modi ka siyasi ant ho chuka hai. Inka waqt khatam ho gaya hai. Modi ka shasan aakhiri daur mein hai. Inke uttaradhikari ki talash chal rahi hai.”

He reportedly also told party leaders that the government was currently “on the back foot” and called on the Congress to take a more aggressive political position against the BJP-led government.

Rahul Gandhi Calls For More Aggressive Congress Strategy

The remarks came during a meeting of the CWC, the Congress’s highest decision-making body, where senior leaders discussed the political situation and the party’s strategy for upcoming challenges.

Gandhi’s reported comments indicate that the Congress leadership believes there is an opportunity to intensify its campaign against the Modi government on issues including employment, education, economic concerns and other matters.

The meeting was attended by Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge, former party president Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi and other senior leaders.

Kharge Targets Modi Government Over Youth Issues

Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge also criticised the central government during the meeting.

According to reports, Kharge alleged that government policies had negatively affected young people and claimed that thousands of schools had closed in recent years. He called for a clear and time-bound “Education-to-Employment Roadmap” to improve opportunities for young Indians.

Kharge also raised questions about donations received by the Ram Temple trust. He argued that there should be greater transparency regarding the money, gold and other contributions received by the trust.

Congress Raises Border And Other National Issues

The CWC also discussed several other issues, including reports concerning Chinese activities along India’s borders.

Kharge said the meeting was being held at an important political juncture and that the party needed to focus on issues affecting ordinary citizens, particularly young people.

The Congress leadership also discussed strengthening the party’s political response and increasing pressure on the BJP-led government.

What Rahul Gandhi’s Remark Means

Gandhi’s reported statement is significant because it comes from the Leader of Opposition and was made before senior Congress leaders at a key party meeting. However, his claim that Modi’s political rule is in its “final phase” and that a successor is being considered is a political assertion attributed to Gandhi by sources, rather than an officially announced succession process within the BJP.

The BJP has not, based on the information provided, officially indicated that Prime Minister Modi is being replaced.
