JP Nadda Undergoes Angioplasty at AIIMS Delhi, Health Minister Stable and Under Observation

Union Health Minister and senior BJP leader JP Nadda underwent an angioplasty at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in New Delhi on Monday, August 17.

According to an official statement issued by AIIMS, Nadda’s condition is stable and he remains under observation in the hospital’s Department of Cardiology.

AIIMS Confirms Nadda’s Angioplasty

AIIMS confirmed that Nadda underwent the cardiac procedure on August 17.

The hospital said in its statement:“Shri JP Nadda, Hon’ble Minister of Health and Family Welfare, underwent angioplasty on 17th August 2026 and is stable and under observation in the Dept of Cardiology, AIIMS, New Delhi.”

The statement did not provide further details about the extent of the blockage or the specific cardiac vessel involved.

Nadda Was Admitted After Feeling Unwell

Nadda was admitted to AIIMS Delhi on August 13 after reportedly experiencing uneasiness.

Doctors subsequently conducted a series of medical examinations, including coronary angiography, to assess the condition of his heart and check for possible blockages.

Following the evaluation, doctors proceeded with angioplasty on Monday.

What Is Angioplasty?

Angioplasty is a commonly performed procedure used to open a narrowed or blocked blood vessel supplying the heart.

During the procedure, doctors generally guide a thin catheter through a blood vessel to the affected area. A small balloon may then be inflated to widen the narrowed section. In many cases, a stent is placed to help keep the artery open and improve blood flow.

Coronary angiography is commonly used to identify the location and severity of blockages and help doctors decide whether treatment such as angioplasty and stenting is required.

Nadda Remains Under Cardiac Observation

For now, AIIMS has said that Nadda is stable and continues to remain under observation in the cardiology department.

Further information about his recovery and possible discharge is expected from the hospital or his office.
