Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi delivered a strong message in support of protesting students, asserting that the government could not suppress the voice of the country’s youth. Addressing demonstrators, he urged them to remain fearless and continue their movement despite pressure from authorities.
Reaffirming his support, Gandhi said the determination of students could not be defeated by any government machinery.
“This is the system that is attacking them (students and youth). I told them inside. I said, do not worry. Do not worry. No amount of strength of the entire Indian government, every single person in the Indian government, cannot move you from there (protest site),” Rahul Gandhi said.
The Congress leader’s remarks came amid the continuing nationwide agitation over the alleged NEET paper leak, with students demanding accountability and reforms in the examination system.
Gandhi accused the government of attempting to intimidate young protesters but insisted that such efforts would fail.
“Let them (government) do whatever they want. If they want to stop, if they want to threaten, they can do anything… We are not going to step back,” he said.
Describing students as the driving force behind the country’s future, Gandhi drew a sharp political contrast with Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
“They are the future of India. No one can fight them. Narendra Modi is India’s past; the past can never fight the future,” he declared.
His comments add to the escalating political confrontation over the ongoing student protests, with the Opposition intensifying its criticism of the Centre’s handling of the issue while extending open support to demonstrators.
The student-led movement has continued to gather momentum in several parts of the country, with protesters demanding greater transparency in public examinations and action against those responsible for alleged irregularities. Rahul Gandhi’s latest intervention is expected to further sharpen the political debate surrounding the agitation.
