‘I Will Stay Alive Till I See Your End’: Mamata Banerjee Hits Out at BJP, Says TMC Will Bounce Back Despite Rebellion

West Bengal Chief Minister and Trinamool Congress (TMC) chief Mamata Banerjee launched a strong political attack on the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Wednesday, saying she would not be intimidated by political opponents or the recent rebellion within her party.

During a Facebook Live address, Banerjee claimed BJP supporters had wished for her death after the election results but asserted that she would continue fighting.

“On the day of the election result, lumpens of the BJP wished me death by heart attack. I will stay alive till I see your end,” Banerjee said.

Mamata Says TMC Is Still Growing

Rejecting criticism over her age, Banerjee urged political rivals not to indulge in personal attacks.

“Do not try to age-shame anyone,” she said.

The TMC chief expressed confidence that the party remains strong despite recent exits by several leaders.

“I will fight for the common people and the workers. I have enough workers; many new people are also joining us,” she said.

‘I Can Rebuild the Party Again’

Referring to the ongoing political turmoil, Banerjee said she had rebuilt the Trinamool Congress before and was prepared to do it again if necessary.

“Today we have 18 MPs. Yes, some are being threatened. Even today, one man is left. He told me yesterday that his family is being threatened. I will say—those who want to leave, please do. If I can restart the party in 2006, I can do it in 2026,” she said.

Her remarks came as the TMC continues to witness defections and internal unrest following its defeat in the West Bengal Assembly elections.

Strong Defence of Abhishek Banerjee

Backing party national general secretary Abhishek Banerjee, Mamata dismissed allegations against her nephew and praised his commitment to the party.

“Abhishek Banerjee has been turned into an excuse. His family members were summoned. Had he wanted, he could have got relief. But he did not run away from the battlefield. The way he has continued to fight, all his flaws have been forgiven. He is fighting like a tiger,” she said.

Her statement came shortly after senior TMC leader Madan Mitra joined the rebel faction led by Leader of the Opposition Ritabrata Banerjee. Mitra had blamed Abhishek Banerjee’s leadership style and claimed his request for Abhishek to step aside temporarily was ignored before he left the party.

Despite the growing rebellion, Mamata Banerjee maintained that the Trinamool Congress would remain united and continue its political battle in West Bengal.
