The Uttar Pradesh government on Thursday carried out a significant administrative overhaul by transferring 20 Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officers across various departments. The reshuffle affected senior officials holding Secretary and Special Secretary-level positions, while several district-level administrative posts, including Chief Development Officers (CDOs), also saw new appointments.
The latest changes are aimed at reorganising key government departments and strengthening administrative functioning across the state. The exercise also included fresh postings for officers recently promoted to the IAS from the Provincial Civil Services (PCS) cadre.
Major Changes in Senior Administrative Posts
Among the prominent appointments, Sudha Verma was moved from the Revenue Department and appointed as the new Labour Commissioner.
Dr Sarika Mohan, who had been serving as Director General and Secretary of the Medical Education Department, was given charge as the Inspector General of Registration.
In another key change, Neha Sharma was shifted from the Registration Department to head the Medical Education Department as Director General and Secretary.
Fresh Responsibilities Across Key Departments
The reshuffle also brought changes in departments such as Geology and Mining, Culture, Rural Livelihoods and Power Distribution.
Arun Kumar was appointed Mission Director of the Uttar Pradesh State Livelihood Mission, while J Reebha was entrusted with additional responsibilities as Additional Director, Geology and Mining, alongside her existing role as Special Secretary.
In the Culture Department, Deepa Ranjan was posted as Special Secretary, while Sanjay Kumar received additional charge as Director, Culture. At the same time, Vishal Singh was relieved of the additional responsibility of Director.
Meanwhile, Sandeep Bhagia was appointed Managing Director of Madhyanchal Vidyut Vitran Nigam after being transferred from the State Tax Department.
CDOs of Three Districts Replaced
The government also announced changes in district administration by appointing new Chief Development Officers in Azamgarh, Ballia and Etawah.
Parikshit Khatana, who was serving as CDO of Azamgarh, was transferred as Additional Commissioner, State Tax, Gautam Buddh Nagar, while Rakesh Kumar Patel became the new CDO of Azamgarh.
In Ballia, Ojaswi Raj was appointed Municipal Commissioner of Mathura-Vrindavan, with Alok Kumar taking over as the district’s new Chief Development Officer.
Similarly, Ajay Kumar Gautam, the outgoing CDO of Etawah, was posted as Additional Commissioner, State Tax, Ghaziabad-I, and Sanjay Kumar Singh was appointed the new CDO of Etawah.
More Officers Receive New Assignments
The reshuffle also included appointments in the Revenue and Cooperative sectors.
Manikandan A, who had been awaiting a posting, was appointed Additional Land Management Commissioner in the Revenue Council.
Meanwhile, Dr Vandana Verma was given additional charge of the Cooperative Sugar Mills Federation while continuing in her existing role with the State Sugar Corporation.
The latest administrative changes form part of the Uttar Pradesh government’s periodic bureaucratic restructuring aimed at improving governance and departmental coordination.
