Raja Warring Dismisses Rift Speculation In Punjab Congress
Punjab Congress president Amarinder Singh Raja Warring on Tuesday sought to put an end to speculation surrounding internal differences in the state unit, asserting that the party’s scheduled organisational meetings would proceed as planned. He also clarified that former Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi was away from the state for a short period and would join discussions later.
“We have a PCC meeting scheduled today. Following that, there is a meeting with the district presidents. Channi Sahab had clarified yesterday and he had stated that he would be away for a day or two. Bhupesh Baghel ji spoke to him; when Baghel ji addressed the press yesterday evening, he clarified that Channi sahab is out of town for two days and would meet later,” Warring said.
Update On Meetings With Party Leaders
Providing details about interactions with party office-bearers, Warring said only a few leaders had met the state leadership so far, while others were expected to meet in the coming days.
“Two chairmen came and met us, while two others said they would meet Randhawa ji and Channi ji in a day or two. Apart from that, no one else has been called,” he stated.
Warning On Party Discipline
Commenting on the show-cause notice issued to Congress leader Madan Lal Jalalpur, Warring said the party would continue to take disciplinary action against anyone making remarks against the Congress High Command or violating party discipline.
“As I said earlier, anyone who speaks against the High Command or fails to observe proper decorum, notice will be issued. He will provide his clarification, and the party will take appropriate action thereafter,” Warring said.
