Heavy Rain Impacts Mumbai’s Railway Operations
Persistent monsoon showers continued to affect daily life across Mumbai on Monday, causing major disruptions to suburban and long-distance train services. Waterlogging at several railway locations slowed operations on the city’s busy rail network, leaving thousands of commuters facing delays during peak travel hours.
According to railway officials, suburban services on the Churchgate-Dahanu Road corridor were operating around 10 to 15 minutes behind schedule due to water accumulation on the tracks. The Harbour Line, however, continued to function without any major disruption.
Several Suburban Train Services Withdrawn
As weather conditions remained challenging, Western Railway cancelled multiple suburban train services to ensure passenger safety and maintain operational efficiency.
The cancelled services include:
- Train No. 69164 (Dahanu Road–Panvel)
- Train No. 69165 (Panvel–Vasai Road)
- Train No. 69168 (Vasai Road–Panvel)
- Train No. 69167 (Panvel–Vasai Road)
- Train No. 69166 (Vasai Road–Panvel)
- Train No. 69161 (Panvel–Dahanu Road)
- Train No. 69174 (Dahanu Road–Borivali)
- Train No. 69139 (Borivali–Valsad)
- Train No. 61002 (Dahanu Road–Borivali)
Railway authorities also announced that Train No. 69141, scheduled to operate between Virar and Surat, will now commence its journey from Valsad, resulting in a partial cancellation of the service.
Long-Distance Trains Also Affected
The adverse weather has also impacted long-distance train operations. Western Railway cancelled both directions of the Bhuj-Pune Express due to the ongoing disruption.
Train No. 11092 (Pune-Bhuj Express), which was scheduled to depart from Pune, has been cancelled, while Train No. 11091 (Bhuj-Pune Express), scheduled to leave Bhuj on July 8, has also been withdrawn.
Landslide Continues To Hit Central Railway Network
Apart from waterlogging, restoration work is continuing on the Karjat-Lonavala ghat section after a landslide severely disrupted Central Railway operations.
Railway officials said dozens of mail and express services have been affected, with several trains cancelled, diverted or terminated before reaching their destinations. Restoration teams remain deployed at the affected locations to clear debris and restore normal movement as quickly as possible.
Passengers Advised To Check Latest Train Status
With rainfall expected to continue, railway authorities have advised passengers to verify the latest train schedules before leaving for stations. Travellers have also been urged to follow official railway announcements for updates on cancellations, diversions and revised departure timings as restoration work progresses.
