‘Viksit Bharat 2047 Is Our Commitment’: PM Modi Pushes Governance Reforms During Marathon Cabinet Meeting

Prime Minister Narendra Modi chaired an extended meeting of the Union Council of Ministers on Thursday, focusing on governance reforms, administrative efficiency and long-term development priorities linked to the government’s Viksit Bharat 2047 vision.

The high-level meeting, which continued for more than four hours, included detailed presentations by several major ministries on policy implementation, reform measures and future action plans aimed at accelerating economic growth and public service delivery.

Ministries Present Progress Reports

Senior ministers and officials from departments including Agriculture, Commerce, External Affairs, Power, Labour, Road Transport and Corporate Affairs briefed the Prime Minister on ongoing projects, policy execution and sector-specific priorities.

Sources said the discussions revolved around improving coordination between ministries, speeding up implementation and removing bureaucratic delays that affect governance outcomes.

PM Modi Calls for Faster Decision-Making

During the meeting, Prime Minister Modi reportedly stressed the importance of quicker administrative processes and directed ministries to reduce unnecessary procedural hurdles.

He underlined that governance should remain focused on citizens and public welfare, while ministries must ensure faster movement of files and more efficient decision-making mechanisms.

The Prime Minister also emphasised that the vision of “Viksit Bharat 2047” should be treated as a long-term national mission rather than a political slogan.

Officials familiar with the discussions said ministries with weaker performance indicators were advised to improve delivery systems and strengthen monitoring of ongoing projects.

Focus on Public Outreach

The Prime Minister also asked ministers to actively communicate the government’s achievements and flagship initiatives to people across the country.

The discussions reportedly included strategies to improve public awareness regarding infrastructure projects, welfare schemes, economic reforms and digital governance initiatives undertaken over the past several years.

Key Outcomes of PM Modi’s Five-Nation Visit

Prime Minister Modi recently returned to India after visiting the United Arab Emirates, the Netherlands, Sweden, Norway and Italy.

During the UAE visit, discussions centred on energy cooperation, defence partnerships and investments. Agreements linked to strategic petroleum reserves, shipping and long-term LPG supply were also finalised.

In Europe, India expanded cooperation with several countries in sectors such as artificial intelligence, green energy, digital technology and critical minerals.

India also upgraded strategic ties with multiple nations during the tour, including Italy and Sweden, while discussions at the India-Nordic Summit focused on clean energy, innovation and Arctic cooperation.

International Honours During Tour

During the diplomatic outreach, Prime Minister Modi received multiple international honours, including Sweden’s Royal Order of the Polar Star and Norway’s Grand Cross of the Royal Norwegian Order of Merit.

In Italy, he was also awarded the FAO Agricola Medal in recognition of India’s contribution to food security and agriculture-related initiatives.

The government is expected to intensify focus on governance delivery, economic reforms and international partnerships in the coming months as ministries begin implementing directives issued during the Council meeting.
