“If BJP Wins 10 Seats, I’ll Quit Politics!” Kejriwal’s Big Dare

Hours after a special court cleared him of all charges in the Delhi Excise Policy case, Arvind Kejriwal, national convenor of the Aam Aadmi Party, held a press briefing at his party’s Delhi headquarters on Friday. He hailed the court’s detailed judgment, saying it showed there was “not the slightest evidence” even to frame charges against him.

Kejriwal said the 600‑page order proved his continual claim that the entire case lacked substance. He described the judgment as a “vindication not just for me but for honest public servants everywhere.”

Allegations of Political Targeting

In a sharp attack on the leadership of the Narendra Modi government, Kejriwal alleged that top leaders, including Amit Shah, orchestrated a political campaign to “finish” his party. “I have only earned honesty, not money,” he said, demanding a public apology from the ruling party for what he called years of harassment through legal cases.

He questioned why multiple investigations against his party were launched while similar allegations against political rivals never resulted in charges.

Election Challenge to BJP

Turning up the political heat, Kejriwal issued a bold challenge to the Prime Minister, urging him to dissolve the Delhi Assembly and hold fresh elections immediately. “If the BJP wins more than 10 seats, I will leave politics,” he declared, seeking to turn the legal victory into a political turning point.

BJP Reacts to Acquittal

The Bharatiya Janata Party responded coolly to Kejriwal’s celebrations. BJP MP Manoj Tiwari stressed that the court’s ruling came from a lower court and that the Central Bureau of Investigation would appeal to a higher judicial forum.

“All the evidence against the corrupt is solid,” Tiwari said, expressing confidence that justice would eventually take its course. He dismissed the victory speeches as premature political rhetoric.

Congress Joins the Fray

The Indian National Congress also seized on the verdict, with senior leader Pawan Khera suggesting the timing of the acquittal was no coincidence. He claimed it was strategically aimed at bolstering the AAP ahead of critical elections in Punjab and Gujarat.

Khera accused the BJP of pushing a “Congress‑mukt Bharat” narrative, arguing that legal cases against Congress leaders tend to intensify before elections, while proceedings against friendly parties slow down.

Kejriwal Fires Back at Congress

Kejriwal wasted no time countering those remarks, asking why top Congress figures had never spent time in jail despite multiple allegations. He said the party’s comments showed “no shame or sense of accountability.”
