Freshly released documents connected to convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein have drawn renewed attention to Indian-American author and wellness figure Deepak Chopra. The records, accessed by CNN, are part of the Epstein archive maintained by the United States Department of Justice and reveal extensive communication between Chopra and Epstein years after Epstein’s 2008 conviction.

Messages Continued Years After Conviction

According to the documents, Chopra and Epstein remained in regular contact between 2016 and 2019, exchanging hundreds of messages. Some of these communications reportedly included remarks described as lewd and sexist in nature, raising questions about the tone and context of their interaction during a period when Epstein was already a convicted offender.

Quotes From Messages Raise Eyebrows

The files cite multiple messages in which Chopra allegedly encouraged Epstein to bring “girls” along on trips and events. In one message, Chopra wrote, “Your girls would love it, as would you.” On another occasion, while discussing a workshop in Switzerland, he again suggested Epstein bring his “girls.”

The correspondence also included philosophical exchanges. Chopra wrote, “God is a construct. Cute girls are real.” Epstein responded, “When the girls say, oh my god…?” Chopra then replied, “Yes, that’s divine tran=cendence”.

Financial and Professional Links Mentioned

Beyond personal conversations, the documents also point to financial and professional overlap. Chopra and his associate Poonacha Machaiah reportedly sought Epstein’s input on the wellness app Jiyo. Records show that in 2017, Chopra received a $50,000 cheque from “Gratitude America,” a foundation linked to Epstein.

Messages During Public Backlash

The files indicate that during a period when Epstein was under intense public scrutiny, Chopra appeared to offer advice and reassurance. In one message, he wrote, “Sorry, I am not concerned about that,” and suggested Epstein should “Stay silent. Meditate.”

Family Introduction Also Referenced

The correspondence further mentions Chopra introducing his son-in-law to Epstein, telling him, “You might enjoy meeting him,” followed by the remark “(can’t talk about girls).” The documents do not clarify whether such a meeting ever took place.

Chopra’s Public Response

Earlier this month, Chopra addressed his past association with Epstein in a post on X. He stated, “I am deeply saddened by the suffering of the victims in this case, and I unequivocally condemn abuse and exploitation in all forms.”

He added, “I want to be clear: I was never involved in, nor did I participate in, any criminal or exploitative conduct. Any contact I had was limited and unrelated to abusive activity. Some past email exchanges have surfaced that reflect poor judgement in tone. I regret that and understand how they read today, given what was publicly known at the time.”

Chopra concluded by saying, “My focus remains on supporting accountability, prevention, and efforts that protect and support survivors.”
