Mumbai: Renowned filmmaker Neeraj Pandey has officially withdrawn the title of his upcoming film Ghooskhor Pandat, submitting an affidavit to the Supreme Court of India clarifying that the controversial title will no longer be used. Pandey stated that the film is a completely fictional police drama and emphasized that it bears no reference to any religion, caste, or community.
In his submission, the director assured the court and the public that there was no intention to hurt anyone’s sentiments and that the film has been made purely for entertainment purposes.
Supreme Court Involvement
The petition was filed by a social activist group and the matter is slated for further hearing in the Supreme Court today. During the last hearing, the court had questioned the filmmaker on the choice of title, observing that it was aware of why filmmakers sometimes select such provocative titles.
