Dwarka: The fatal accident took place on February 3 near Lal Bahadur Shastri College after police received a PCR call at around 11:57 am. When officers reached the spot, they found three damaged vehicles — a Scorpio SUV, a Dzire car parked on the roadside, and Sahil’s motorcycle.

“This Was Not an Accident, It Was a Crime”

Sahil’s mother, Inna Makan, has demanded strict punishment for the accused. Speaking emotionally, she said, “My son was going to the office on the 3rd of February. He (Scorpio driver), along with his sister, was out on his Scorpio to make fun reels. The speed with which the Scorpio is being driven is clearly visible in the reel.”

She alleged that the SUV was being driven in the opposite lane and that the driver performed a stunt in front of a bus. “My son looked to the right to see whether there was space because there was an e-rickshaw on the left side of the bus. The Scorpio collided with the motorcycle and then hit a roadside parked car. The driver did not apply brakes even after the collision. Even a cab driver has been seriously injured. This is a criminal activity,” she said.

Injuries and Investigation

Sahil was declared dead at the scene. The injured taxi driver, Ajit Singh, was rushed to IGI Hospital. Police have recorded his statement, and the final medical report is awaited.

According to the investigation, the Scorpio first hit Sahil’s motorcycle coming from the opposite direction and then rammed into the parked Dzire car. CCTV footage from the area has been collected, and all three vehicles have been seized for inspection.

An FIR has been registered at Dwarka South Police Station.

Minor Driver Produced Before Board

The Scorpio was allegedly driven by 17-year-old Akshatra Singh, who did not possess a valid driving licence. Being a minor, he was produced before the Juvenile Justice Board and initially sent to an observation home. On February 10, he was granted interim bail to appear for his Class 10 board examinations.

Police have also arrested the boy’s father for allowing him to drive despite being underage.

“Wealth Cannot Buy Immunity”

Inna Makan claimed that the accused had multiple over-speeding challans earlier but was not stopped by his family. “Some people think they can do anything on the road because their parents are wealthy. This is a criminal mentality. This is not just an accident. My son died because of their fun reel,” she said.

She added, “He does not even have a license. No one is safe on the road due to people like them. Strict action should be taken.”
