Delhi: In a historic and unanimous decision, Nitin Nabin has been elected as the national president of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) without facing any opposition. The party confirmed that 37 sets of nomination papers were submitted in his favor, and no other candidate was proposed, signaling strong unity and support within the party ranks.
Nabin succeeds JP Nadda, who now serves as the Health Minister in the Modi government. The transition marks a significant moment in the party’s leadership structure, as Nabin assumes the top position, reflecting widespread confidence among BJP leaders nationwide.
The nomination process was highlighted by the presence of top party leaders. Health Minister JP Nadda and Defence Minister Rajnath Singh formally submitted Nabin’s nomination papers to K Laxman, the Returning Officer. Home Minister Amit Shah, Road Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari, and senior leaders Dharmendra Pradhan, Bhupendra Yadav, and Kiren Rijiju were also present to witness the occasion.
State leaders showed overwhelming support for Nabin, with Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu and other regional leaders filing additional nomination papers endorsing him. Chief Ministers including Yogi Adityanath, Pushkar Singh Dhami, Nayab Singh Saini, and Pramod Sawant were present, alongside party representatives from Bihar, Andhra Pradesh, Maharashtra, Assam, and Jharkhand.
